The Minister of Home Affairs Moves 4 Islands from Aceh to North Sumatra Region, Observers remind Prabowo

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA-The Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs (Kepmendagri) Number 300.2.2-2138/2025, making four islands that previously entered the Aceh region have now changed to the North Sumatra region.

Each island is Panjang Island, Centipede, Milking, and Stunning to Ketek.

The Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs (Minister of Home Affairs) Muhammad Tito Karnavian who moved four islands from Aceh Province to North Sumatra (North Sumatra) is now reaping the sharp spotlight.

Political observer Andi Yusran suggested that the decision be reviewed in order to maintain national political stability.

“Permendagri who included four islands that were previously part of Aceh Regency, then changed to the North Sumatra region, need to be reviewed to maintain domestic political conduciveness,” Andi said launching the RMOL Political News Agency, Tuesday, June 9, 2025.

According to him, this policy has the potential to cause interproval tension. Especially between Aceh and North Sumatra, and between Aceh and the central government.

The decision not only triggered disappointment among the people of Aceh, but also opened up space for the potential for broader social and political divisions.

“Instability in the Sumatra region if not responded to immediately can have an impact on the political position of President Prabowo,” Andi said. (rmol/dawn)
