FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR — Police from the Tamalate Police and Makassar Police clashed with the protesters on Jalan Sultan Alauddin, Tamalate District, Tuesday (28/10/2025) afternoon.
This was triggered by a group of students who blocked the road right in front of the UIN Alauddin Makassar Hospital.
Not only blocking it, the student group also burned a number of tires.
Police officers led by the Tamalate Police Chief, Commissioner Syarifuddin, immediately tried to prevent the students from burning the tires.
The students who persisted in their stance did not want to lose out, they protected the burnt tires by surrounding them.
“Comrades, let’s protect the ban, comrades, don’t want interference, comrades,” shouted one of the orators.
Despite efforts to protect the tires, plainclothes police managed to seize some and threw them into a ditch.
Bhabinkamtibmas Mangasa, Tamalate, Aipda Irwan, who also helped secure the demonstration, asked students not to burn tires right in front of the hospital.
“The action is orderly, we will monitor it later. The hospital is next door, there are patients inside,” stressed Irwan loudly.
Sure enough, some of the students actually challenged the police and refused to move.
After about 15 minutes of pushing and arguing, Field General Wawan Copel finally gave in and asked his colleagues to move.
For your information, in front of the old campus of UIN Alauddin Makassar, at least three groups of students held a demonstration.
