Make sure there are no COVID-19 cases, the Mayor of Surabaya asked residents not to panic

FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA-Responding to the news of increasing the Covid-19 case in several Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia, Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi ensured that there were no new cases in his territory.

“There is no (Covid-19 case report in Surabaya),” Eri said to the media crew after conducting a wild parking attendant at one of the minimarkets in the Jalan Ir. Soekarno (Merr), Surabaya, Tuesday (3/6/2025).

It is known, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) of the Republic of Indonesia also moved quickly by issuing a circular (SE) numbered SR.03.01/C/1422/2025 concerning Alertness on Increasing Covid-19 Cases

In SE released Friday (5/23), the Ministry of Health asked all stakeholders to increase preparedness to face the surge in cases, especially from the new variant that is now dominating (Covid-19 variants of MB1.1).

Mayor Eri Cahyadi appealed to the public not to panic, but remained vigilant. He said that the characteristics of the Covid-19 virus variant MB1.1 were different from the previously outbreak.

“Because this Covid-19 is just like a cold cough, unlike the previous Covid-19, whose position is to lives. But even though it is not deadly, but that (Covid) interferes with daily health and activities,” he added.

Therefore, Eri invites people to take preventive measures, such as early detection and wearing masks when traveling. This is to suppress the transmission of the virus.

“I hope that Surabaya residents who are in unhealthy conditions, such as melang, coughing, colds, please use a mask. So what? Do not transmit to others. Second, immediately check, let’s jogo together,” Eri exclaimed.
