FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA-The diploma polemic again dragged the family name of the 7th President of Indonesia, Jokowi. This time, it was his son who is now the vice president, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, so the public’s concern.
Lawyer Roy Suryo cs, Ahmad Khozinudin, bluntly mentioned the problem of the Gibran diploma similar to the Jokowi diploma case.
“Like Father Like Son, an expression in English, similar to the proverb of fruit not far from trees, or in Javanese the expression of lanjaran bean,” Ahmad told Fajar.co.id, Thursday (18/9/2025).
Ahmad said, Jokowi’s diploma was at least shown to a number of journalists in Solo.
Meanwhile, Gibran’s documents have not been shown until now.
“I convey the case of this Gibran diploma like Jokowi. Both are problematic,” he said.
Ahmad said, if the problem was associated with the lawsuit of Subhan Palal who is currently running in the Central Jakarta District Court.
According to him, the most fundamental differences are in both status. Jokowi is now no longer serving as president, while Gibran is still active as vice president.
“The legal impact for Gibran, of course, can have the consequences of impeachment, when the Gibran diploma is proven to be not eligible, as stipulated in Article 169 letter r Law No. 7/2017 concerning Elections,” he explained.
In the regulation mentioned, presidential and vice presidential candidates must be educated at the lowest high school or equivalent.
Therefore, continued Khozinudin, the lawsuit against the Gibran diploma became crucial.
