FAJAR.CO.ID, BANTAENG – At least four sub -districts were affected by flash floods in the Bantaeng Regency, South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi) on Saturday (5/7/2025).
Information compiled from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of South Sulawesi, four sub-districts affected by flooding each Bantaeng, Bissappu, Eremerasa, and Uleere.
As a result of the flood it was reported that a number of public facilities such as embankments, bridges, and roads were damaged.
The Head of South Sulawesi BPBD, Amson Padolo, said that there were no reports of fatalities until this afternoon. As for a number of affected residents are still in the process of evacuation to a safe location.
“The local BPBD team, including from the Provincial Government and all the regional governments together with the TNI/Polri and the community while evacuating as well as preparation of public kitchens for affected victims. Not yet reported reports about the death toll,” Amson told the media crew.
Amson also claimed not to have received information on how many residents were displaced to the emergency post. However, some other residents are reported to have returned to the house considering that water is in low condition.
“Residents who are displaced are there but we have not received a report on how much it is. The latest report has begun to recede, and other residents while cleaning up,” concluded Amson.
The flash flood event was also recorded by amateur videos and posted by a number of social media activists.
Disasters that were almost similar also occurred in a number of districts southern South Sulawesi. Heavy rain that flushed the South Sulawesi region since the last few days was said to have sparked floods in several other districts, such as in the areas of Jeneponto, Sinjai and Bulukumba.
