US News & World Report released the best annual diet ranking as a whole, and although the order in 2025 was slightly different from the previous list, the top five choices of 38 diets evaluated were mostly the same.
Best diet for health
This is the process of making the decision: The best diet list as a whole was chosen by a panel consisting of 69 experts in the fields of diet, nutrition, obesity, food psychology, diabetes, and heart disease.
Experts evaluate modern and popular diet based on seven categories:
- Effectiveness for long -term weight loss
- Effectiveness for short -term weight loss
- Facilities to be followed
- Nutrition completeness
- Potential to prevent or manage diabetes
- Potential to prevent heart disease
- Security
Experts rank diet on various lists, including the best diabetes diet, the easiest diet to follow, and the best vegetable diet.
However, the main list that considers several categories is the best diet as a whole.
To compile this list, the US News & World Report combines panel rankings from the seven categories above, by more considering the score categories of long -term weight loss and security.
In the previous edition, it was discussed about the Mediterranean diet. A diet inspired by the traditional eating style of people in countries around the Mediterranean Sea, such as Greece, Italy and Spain. This diet emphasizes the consumption of vegetable foods, healthy fats, and fish, and limits the consumption of red meat and processed foods.
Well, this edition will discuss about Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension Diet (DASH). Expert diet are called the second best way.
