FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR – Coordinating Minister for Legal Affairs, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, met with South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman at the Governor’s Office, Makassar, Wednesday (10/9/2025).
The meeting took place closed. The main agenda discussed the legal steps after the demonstration that ended in chaos some time ago.
Yusril said that his visit to Makassar was a direct order to President Prabowo Subianto.
He will meet the suspect in the destruction and burning of the Makassar City DPRD building and the South Sulawesi DPRD in the South Sulawesi Regional Police detention room.
It is known, the destruction in the Makassar DPRD caused three people to die.
“So we carry out our duties from what the President ordered the President, especially in my field, the fields of human rights, immigration and community law and ensure that all of that has been on the track,” Yusril said.
He asserted that he had received a report on the number of prisoners related to the riots that took place anarchist, and ensured it would be in accordance with the law and protection of human rights
“Now there are 42 people who are detained and are being processed by law 40 in Makassar and there are 2 people in Palopo, we want to make sure the legal steps are taken in accordance with the law in force and in accordance with human rights protection,” he explained.
In fact, Yusril also paid special attention to the existence of students who were also secured. He plans to directly observe prisoners in the South Sulawesi Regional Police.
“The process must be accelerated and returned to his parents. If in Makassar, wait a minute I will go to the Regional Police to discuss this problem later we will have the second press conference from the Regional Police, so it is clearer about those who are detained,” he explained.
