FAJAR.CO.ID, GAZA — The World Health Organization (WHO) noted the flagrant violations committed by PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s regime against the people of Gaza, Palestine since the ceasefire came into effect.
As of Thursday (23/10) WHO recorded that 89 people had died and 317 others had been injured since the ceasefire in Gaza was implemented on October 11.
WHO Director General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, emphasized that the crisis in Gaza is still ongoing and the needs of the population in the region are still very large.
United States (US) President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza peace was announced on September 29. The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire, with the condition of the hostages being released within 72 hours.
The document also proposes that Hamas or other armed Palestinian factions have no role in governing the Gaza Strip, and that control of the territory should be transferred to a committee of technocrats overseen by an international body led by Trump.
On October 9, Israel and Hamas reached agreement on the first phase of a peace plan to resolve the two-year armed conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Then on October 13, President Trump together with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Sisi, Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a Gaza ceasefire declaration.
Hamas released all 20 surviving hostages held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. In return, Israel also released 1,718 Palestinian prisoners from Gaza and 250 prisoners from Israeli prisons. (dawn)
