A number of residents made a zebra crossing with the motif of the game ‘Pac-Man’ in Tebet, South Jakarta, as a form of protest because complaints about the zebra crossing were not responded to. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung apologized regarding the zebra crossing issue.
“We apologize for that. I thank and respect the creativity of the residents,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday (31/3/2026).
For information, the ‘Pac-Man’ zebra crossing in Tebet went viral after residents said reports regarding damage to the zebra crossing were not followed up by the DKI Provincial Government. Residents then made their own zebra crossing.
Now, the ‘Pac-Man’ zebra crossing will be dismantled. Pramono said the zebra crossing would be made according to applicable standards.
“This is positive creativity, but the zebra crossing has rules. So we returned it according to the applicable rules,” he explained.
Pramono said that his party would also hold a meeting to discuss the complaints system at JAKI. He said the DKI Provincial Government would improve the system.
“Earlier, we happened to have a meeting about JAKI. There were several reports that had been repeated several times and had not been followed up, so we will improve them for that,” he said.
