Israeli authorities closed its airspace to civil flights after launching a “pre-emptive strike” against Iran. Tel Aviv also declared a state of emergency throughout its territory.
“Following security developments, the Minister of Transportation has ordered the Director of the Israel Civil Aviation Authority to close the airspace of the State of Israel to civil flights,” said the Israeli Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, as reported. AFPSaturday (28/2/2026).
Previously, the Israeli Defense Ministry announced that its military forces had launched a “preemptive strike” against Iran.
Israeli authorities also declared a state of emergency throughout the Jewish state after the attacks launched on Iran. Sirens sounded in the Jerusalem area and various parts of Israel were warned of a “very serious” threat.
“The State of Israel has launched a preemptive strike against Iran,” Israel’s Defense Ministry said in a statement.
“Defense Minister Israel Katz declared a special and immediate state of emergency across the country,” the statement added.
Journalist report AFP said that two loud explosions were heard in the Tehran area, the capital of Iran, on Saturday (28/2) morning. Thick plumes of smoke rose in the sky in the central and eastern areas of Tehran.
Iran news agency, Farin its report said the explosion was triggered by a missile attack.
“The type of explosion indicates that this was a missile attack,” the news agency said Farwithout providing more detailed information.
There has been no official statement from Iranian authorities regarding this latest Israeli attack.
