Through Brilian Village, BRI pushed the snack business into superior souvenir products

FAJAR.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BRI continues to strengthen its strategic role in encouraging economic growth in the village ecosystem through the Brilian Village Empowerment Program. One of the fostered villages that showed the positive achievement of the implementation of this program was Hargobinangun Village, Pakem District, Sleman Regency, Special Province of Yogyakarta.

The village, which was included in the top 40 Brilian villages in 2023, has a strategic geographical position. Located on the slopes of Mount Merapi and directly adjacent to Central Java Province on the north side. With an area of ​​around 14,300 m², this village is a liaison between the natural tourism area and the community’s MSME center.

One of the UMKM Slondok Renteng Pak Mul businesses is part of the Brilian Village ecosystem. Purwanto’s MSME shows the development as a traditional snack producer with a mainstay product in the form of a cassava-based slondok, which is now one of the souvenirs of the Hargobinangun Village. In addition to Slondok, this business also produces Enthik chips, other snacks that are popular as friends and tourist souvenirs.

“This business was originally pioneered by my grandfather in the 1960s, then continued my parents. I myself began to be involved after graduating from high school in 2008,” Purwanto said.

This snack product is marketed through the network Retailer Which takes directly from the production site, then distributed to various souvenir centers in Yogyakarta and Central Java. In addition, products are also available for consumers who come directly. Since it was determined as part of the Brilian Village program, the village has recorded a significant increase in tourist visits that have a direct impact on the sale of local MSME products.
