FAJAR.CO.ID, SURABAYA – Head of the East Java Regional Police Head of Health Division), Kombes M Khusnan Marzuki ensured that the East Java Regional Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) had sent 14 DNA samples to the Forensic Laboratory of the National Police Headquarters in Jakarta.
He said, the delivery of 14 Samples of DNA was the last of the victims of the collapsed building of Al Khoziny Ponpes, Buduran, Sidoarjo, East Java.
“Especially today, there are 14 samples of victims of victims sent. That’s the last shipment from Sidoarjo. Hopefully there will be no additional,” Khusnan said at Bhayangkara Hospital in Surabaya, Wednesday (8/10).
Khusnan ensures that the identification process for the victims runs smoothly without significant obstacles. The DVI team, he said, worked according to international procedure standards to ensure that each body was valid and scientifically identified.
“In principle there are no obstacles. Our team works based on the rules of DVI International,” he said.
The identification process is done by matching antemortem and post mortem data, including primary data such as teeth and hair, as well as secondary data such as the victim’s clothing and personal items.
“DNA tests are also carried out to ensure the results are accurate,” he said.
It is known, the day before or Tuesday (7/10), the DVI team had received 67 body bags. Of that number, 34 of them were successfully identified.
Even so, Khusnan was reluctant to specify whether all the victims who had been identified were Santri Ponpes Al Khoziny.
“We only identify based on family data. Regarding the status of santri victims or not, it is beyond our authority,” he concluded. (dawn)
