FAJAR.CO.ID, LONDON – Two English clubs, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are currently fighting for one of the players’ signatures.
The name Xavi Simons is currently a struggle for two English teams, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
The initial Chelsea became the leading team to get Xavi Simons’s signature.
However, ahead of the end of the 2025 summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur became a team that was ready to overtake the rival of the city for the player.
Chelsea have discussed Simons’s transfer with Leipzig since mid -July.
The reason the Blues can still ensure the transfer of the Dutch player is because of several factors.
Among them there is the name Alejandro Garnacho being a priority and they still have to release players like Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku to free their salary bills.
Quoted by The Athletic, Simons was allowed Leipzig to fly to London to take care of his transfer. Simons became the target of Tottenham after failing to attract Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze.
The European League champion last season was reportedly ready to overtake Chelsea by submitting a Leipzig offer for Simons worth 70 million euros or around Rp 1.33 trillion plus a bonus.
Tottenham must also be able to convince Simons to ignore Chelsea and join them. If successful, then Simons will undergo a medical test this week before being inaugurated as a Tottenham player.
